Total eclipses of the sun are somewhat rare. But I
witnessed a slightly rarer natural phenomenon. In 1979, a total eclipse passed
through Bozeman. Just at the last minute, a large cloud positioned itself
between me and the eclipse. It was a perfect alignment of me-cloud-moon-sun.
It got pretty dark. I could see stars. But I couldn't see the eclipse. It was an eclipse of an eclipse.
