Alive - by Piers Paul Read

Book Review, © Copyright 2001, Jim Loy

On October 13, 1972, a passenger plane carrying a rugby team from Uruguay crashed high in the Andes. Weeks went by; the search was called off; the 45 passengers and crew were presumed dead. But sixteen people had survived (after an avalanche killed several of the original survivors). And they survived by cannibalism. 70 days later, just before Christmas, two of the boys walked out of the Mountains, and the others were rescued.
