The Anti-Coloring Book . . . by Susan Striker

"Be sure and color within the lines." But that is not the way art is done. Artist do not color or paint within the lines, and these books are dedicated to that idea. On one page, we see a picture of a convict in jail, which you can color within the lines if you want to. But instead, you are asked to draw what he is thinking about, in the balloon over his head: "This man is thinking about how he ended up in jail." Real artists (including children) are doing this kind of drawing and coloring already. So, these books are for those of you who think that they cannot draw. "But I can't even draw a straight line." So?
