To paraphrase one of the characters in this book, this is another $^%*#$@* blackjack book. It's a thriller too, as the casinos eventually got rough. The book is about a team of card counters from MIT who took Vegas for millions. Their secret was teamwork: a team of spotters would play at the various blackjack tables (and make minimum bets), and then signal the big player to come play (making huge bets in the thousands) when the odds became favorable. They averaged a 30% return on their investments; for every $1000 they took to Vegas, they came back with $1300. You can still make money at blackjack, but it is much harder to make the big bucks. And the story got a little scary. So you might not want to emulate these folks. But you probably will enjoy reading about them.
