These are the highly acclaimed awards, mainly for people who kill themselves in especially stupid ways, thereby improving the human race. The award also applies to people who prevent themselves from ever having children in especially stupid ways. Honorable mention is awarded to those who nearly succeeded. Urban legends need not apply. Most of these feats have been verified by checking sources and/or witnesses. Some get disqualified for a number of reasons; for example, it is not particularly stupid to jump from a moving car into a chain link fence and then get run over (it meets my standards). It is stupid (but surprisingly common) to light a match to enable you to see into that gasoline can. It is stupid to capture a snake with the butt of your rifle, only to have the snake pull the trigger and kill you. It is stupid to con a friend into cutting off your leg with a chain saw to cash in on multiple insurance policies. Most of these will boggle your mind, and may have you fall down laughing. These are three of the funniest books in existence.
These books also contain quite a few personal accounts that people have sent in, which (probably because they are unconfirmed and are often more wordy) are usually not as interesting as the other stories.
