The Hero and the Crown - by Robin McKinley

Book Review, © Copyright 2003, Jim Loy

This is classic fantasy. Aerin the king's daughter, and something of an outcase, rides upon her father's aging, nearly crippled war steed in order to slay fire-breathing dragons (small but dangerous), for she thinks that she know how that is done. She encounters a huge evil dragon, a good wizard, a magic sword, an evil wizard, war, and the return of the dragon's spirit. And in the end, she comes home to her destiny. This book is called a book for young adults. If so, then all fantasy is for young adults. I guess it is, but this book is just fine for older adults too.
