Digging Dinosaurs & Dinosaur Lives - by John R. Horner

Book Review, © Copyright 1998, Jim Loy

John Horner is Curator of Paleontology at the Museum of the Rockies, in Bozeman, MT. He is among the best dinosaur hunters of all time. And, by the way, he was the technical advisor for the Jurassic Park movies.

These two books are about paleontology, as it is done by John Horner and his assistants. As such, they are autobiographical. Other books on this subject are about the discoveries and theories. These books are, too. But, even more, these books are about the little things, the thoughts, the false starts, the frustrations, the controversies, the intrusion of personal tragedy, the lucky discoveries, the insights. And the reader comes away with a deeper understanding of what digging dinosaurs is about. These books are very good.
