The subtitle of this book is "How to make easy money off of ESP, Astrology, UFOs, Crop Circles, Cattle Mutilations, Alien Abductions, Atlantis, Channeling, and other New Age nonsense." You actually can use this book to scam people, and make money. But the real message is this: Here is how easily all of this stuff can be faked; isn't that enough reason to be skeptical? And the book is very humorous. This book is more interesting than other "debunking" books, because of this different approach. To give you an idea how easy this stuff is, let me quote the book about how to fake a cattle mutilation:
Step 1 - Find a dead cow that's been messed up and left in a field.
Step 2 - Find someone who talks more than they should and whisper something exciting in their ear, such as, "You know, don't tell anyone this, but that cow has had all its blood drained," or "You know, don't tell anyone this, but there were men in white suits here last night from a government agency," or "You know, don't tell anyone this..."
Step 3 - Sit back and feel ashamed over all the trouble you've started.
That's right. You don't have to touch that cow. Just start a rumor.
So, if you firmly believe in all sorts of psychic nonsense, will this book open your eyes? Probably not, unfortunately. But this book is a great source of info for those people who have not gone over the edge (the majority of people, hopefully).
