This is not only the story of the discovery of Neptune, but of the discoveries of Uranus, Pluto, the Asteroids, and (briefly) planets around other stars. This is the story of several astronomers, in particular William Herschel discoverer of Uranus, and both John Couch Adams and Urbain Le Verrier who accurately predicted the new planet Neptune's position. It is about the failure of George Airy, who repeatedly prevented astronomers from discovering Neptune. And it is about others who saw and recorded Neptune but did not realize what they saw. This book is very good.
