Go Hang A Salami! I'm A Lasagna Hog! - by Jon Agee & So Many Dynamos! - by Jon Agee: These two books are amazing. They are full of palindromes (things that read the same backwards and forwards), just like the old: "A man, a plan, a canal, Panama." Here we find this sequel: "A car, a man, a maraca!" The titles (Go Hang A Salami! I'm A Lasagna Hog! & So Many Dynamos!) are, of course, amazing palindromes. We even meet the "remarkable Melba Kramer." There are a few simple ones ("wow"). But, these books are a delight. Each palindrome is accompanied by a humorous cartoon. The cartoons make the palindromes extra funny. I laughed out loud for some of these.
I resisted the temptation to quote all the other good ones, because I really think you ought to read these books.
Sit On a Potato Pan, Otis - by Jon Agee: Mr. Agee has come up with a third book of palindromes, Sit On a Potato Pan, Otis. The list price is $14.41, which is also a palindrome.
I Love Me, Vol. I - by Michael Donner: The above books have several really good palindromes, with funny pictures. But, if you want lots more palindromes, I Love Me, Vol. I (S. Wordrow's Palindrome Encyclopedia), by Michael Donner, is what you need. It includes "Elk City, Kansas is a snaky tickle!" It is well researched, and gives the original sources. But I cannot find Ekalaka Lake on my map of Montana. Use this book to construct your own palindromes, as I did with "DNA-land," some sort of biochemical theme park, started by Walt DNA.
Other palindromes that I have composed are "A dog, a pagoda," (a slide from my trip), "A nit was I ere I saw Tina," "Cigar? Tragic," "Etna's ante," "Popeye Pop" (a beverage), "Ra Bar" (where the Egyptian gods hang out and drink Popeye Pop), "SETI bites" (sorry, Carl), "Sis is Isis," "el Bible" (Spanish?), and "Emo has a race car as a home" (or "Emo has a home").
Another book which I have not seen is From A to Zotamorf by Stephen J. Chism. It seems to be out of print.
