The Hank Zipzer Series - by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver

Book Review, © Copyright 2003, Jim Loy

Henry Winkler is the famous actor, and he does other things. These are very funny books for kids, about Hank Zipzer, a really bad student, in the fourth grade. He can't spell; he can't read; he can't write; he can't add; he can't subtract, and he always gets into trouble. His teacher, Ms. Adolf, is so strict that on the first day of school she assigns a five paragraph essay on what we did this summer, and it has to be done in six days. There is no way Hank can get this done in six days. And why start writing it today, when he has six whole days to do it? And he can probably think of a way that he won't have to write it at all. "As I walked down the stairs to Principal Love's office, I felt like I had taken that walk a hundred times. I felt that way because I had." I'm sure Henry Winkler writes from experience.
