Assume we have shown a two-suited hand. We have probably shown both long suits, and maybe the longer one (if there is a longer one) first. These are the two-suiters, starting with the most likely:
I will ignore the freak shapes (6610, 7510, etc.). The above list implies ten steps. So we will divide it up into two or more pieces. The Symmetric Relay divides it up into short two-suiters (one 4-card suit) and long two-suiters (both suits 5+ cards long). Or our definitions of short and long may vary. So, we either have specific bids, at an early stage for short two-suiters and long two-suiters, or we show a two suiter and then specify short or long. Then we go on to show the exact distribution, perhaps numerically (see Intro to Relays - A 2D Relay Stayman).
