At the movies, we used to watch cartoons and movies, with an occasional newsreel. OK, I was watching Three Stooges movies back then, but I'm not old. Then, there came previews. Then ads for junk food, so we could pretend we were watching TV, I suppose (no ads for panty shields, unless they show those at women's movies?). Then rental videos started showing previews, and then more previews, and then more previews. Now there are a lot of previews. They have even started showing previews of the movie you are about to watch, when that movie has a really loud soundtrack (rock music). With the excuse of trying to get you to buy the soundtrack CD, they show you many of the action and comic scenes from the movie that you just rented. I object. I guess it all emphasizes what some people knew all along, we need plenty of time to go to the bathroom and get some snacks before watching a movie. I think I wore out my fast forward button.
