Local High School Bowling Scandal

© Copyright 1999, Jim Loy

Young Clark Kent, of the Smallville High School bowling team, has been accused of sandbagging. Sandbagging is intentionally performing worse than you are capable of. Sandbagging is illegal in bowling.

Clark "Average Guy" Kent is the only son of Jonathan and Martha Kent. They live on a farm a short distance from the school. Clark is said to be a member of the group that includes Superboy. Wouldn't we like to have him on our team. But, it must be mentioned, Clark and Superboy have never been seen together.

The sandbagging accusation was made by rival Lex Luthor, of the Metropolis Central High School team. Upon seeing Kent bowl his twelfth consecutive 150 game, Luthor was quoted as saying, "Nobody is that average."

Investigating officials found that Kent's average, in the two leagues in which he bowls, is (coincidentally) 150 and 150. So, charges of sandbagging would seem to be baseless.

Luthor was quoted as raving, "I ought to kidnap his parents. Then we might get some answers. But I'll bet that Superboy busybody would butt in and save them. Boy, if only I had some green substance that would weaken Superboy. Then we would get some real answers." Luthor was taken into custody by state mental health authorities.

Luthor's teammates were shocked, and embarrassed by his behavior. One of them was quoted as saying, "This is the first time he has done anything like this."
