Jim Loy's Gambling Page

The mathematics of gambling is fascinating. But, in my opinion, gambling is a stupid waste of money. I don't gamble. I'm writing these articles, because I have a couple friends who gamble. It is disturbing to watch them throw their money away, and rationalize it with, "I can't quit now, I'm on a roll," or "I can't quit now, my luck's about to change." I would hope that these articles would discourage people from ever gambling.

My con games and scam pages have moved to Issues and Opinions.

Gambling articles:

There are essentially three kinds of gambling games that you can consistently win. 1 - Skill games (poker, blackjack, backgammon, pool), in which you normally have to "hustle" (disguise your skill) to win consistently. 2 - Knowledge games (horse racing, sports betting, stock market), in which you must know more than the odds makers or fellow betters. 3 - Con games in which you are the perpetrator.
