I wasn't any kind of class clown. Actually, I would sit in the back of the room and try to remain unnoticed, except in science or math classes. But I did cause something of an uproar with this joke:
It was in Mr. Aubert's World History class in high school. Mr. Aubert had just mentioned Isaac Newton, and said, "I think there was another Newton."
And I said, "Fig Newton," just loud enough to not be heard by the teacher. And there was a loud burst of laughter.
Mr. Aubert asked, "What was that?"
Somebody said, "Loy said Fig Newton." And I thought that my world might end.
Mr. Aubert laughed and said, "That's pretty good."
