Remember the Population Explosion? I'll bet you're happy that scare is over. Guess again. It's not over.
The population explosion is continuing unabated. Not only is the population increasing, but the rate of increase is still increasing. Mathematically, this can mean only one thing, disaster. The rate of increase will stop, and eventually decline, simply because the world's available resources will be inadequate. The population will probably continue to increase, for many years. But, the rate of increase will decline.
So, we will all starve, right? No. Poor countries will starve, and then have bloody wars with their neighbors, or within their own borders. And there will be further starving because of the wars. It's happening right now.
Addendum:
There were roughly 2 billion people in the world in 1930. There were roughly 4 billion in 1975. There were roughly 6 billion in 1999.
