Six Young Women Hit My Car
© Copyright 1999, Jim Loy
That title conjures up more than one image, doesn't it. Well they were all
seperate collisions, over a period of years. And each of the young women was
driving a car. I've had eight automobile collisions in my life, two were my
fault. I rear-ended a car with my 1965 Mustang.
Another time I stopped at a stop sign, didn't see a car coming, and hit it in
the rear end, spinning it around 180 degrees. The other six collisions were
caused by the six ladies in the title of this article.
- I was driving in Buttrey's parking lot, here in Bozeman, when a lady in a
small car backed into my right door.
- About a month later, I was driving in the left lane a one-way street
(Babcock here in Bozeman), and was signalling and slowing down for a left turn.
And the lady at the stop sign on my left, went before I had completed my turn,
bashing my driver's side door and lifting my car about a foot off the pavement.
- I was driving North on South 8th, here in Bozeman, when a high school girl
with a learner's permit pulled out from a stop sign, into my path. I was not
able to stop because of glare ice and spun her car around.
- I was again driving on South 8th, when another young lady, driving a pickup
with a snow plow on the front, pulled out from a stop sign, into my path. She
stopped before she got in front of me, scraping dirt off my front tire with her
plow, no damage.
- In Portland Oregon, a young lady pulled out from a parking lot to make a
left turn onto a four lane street. She hit my right rear end, spinning my car
around 180 degrees. A cop going the other way witnessed this. They don't file
an accident report unless there are injuries, and I didn't figure out that I
had to go file a report somewhere.
- Recently, in Hastings parking lot (formerly Buttrey's parking lot) here in
Bozeman, a young lady drove through a parking space and stopped. In the
surprisingly slick conditions, my car slid into her driver's side door.
I joke to people that I have to keep moving the bullseye on my car. Kind of
amazing, isn't it. Are these women after me for some reason? Was it mistaken
identity? Or am I just lucky? It would seem that I am just lucky. The first
four collisions involved my Toyota Tercel. The last two involved my Honda CRX.
I have made anywhere from $0 (I never followed up the one in Portland, because
I didn't figure out how to do that) to $1000 for very little visible damage.
