I was in L.A. for the U. S. Open Chess Tournament, many years ago. L.A. was having a rare heat wave. Between rounds of the tournament, I went to visit the L.A. Zoo.
When I arrived, all of the shady spots in the parking lot had been taken. But I figured that if I actually parked under a tree, my car would be in blazing sunlight by the time I was ready to leave. So, what I should do is to park where the shade would be in about two (or more) hours. Then, when I was ready to leave, in maybe three hours, my car would have been in the shade for about an hour.
I enjoyed the zoo. I recommend it highly. I especially liked the Koala House. Spend some time in it, so your eyes can adjust to the darkness. I didn't realize that koalas and echidnas were nocturnal.
When I was ready to leave, my car was the only car in the shade.
