Speeding

© Copyright 1999, Jim Loy

Back when the nation-wide speed limit was 55 MPH, I always drove 55 on the freeway. At least I tried. I tried really hard. And, over a period of about a year and a half, I got three tickets for speeding. I decided that it wasn't worth the effort. I then drove around 70 or 80, and never got a ticket. I would slow down just before I saw a cop. Or another car would be between me and the cop, as I zipped around a curve. I would pull off for a rest stop, and there would be a cop with his radar. Years went by, and I never got a ticket.

Then the speed limits changed. Now, I have a car that can only speed while plummeting off a cliff (with the wind). Then I will get a ticket.
