Advertising is famous for telling lies. But nowadays, "truth in advertising" laws put some limits on the lies that can legally be told. And so, some advertisers lie by telling the truth. I saw an ad for medicines that were described as "placebos." I got email advertising "genuine replica" Rolex watches (they were surprisingly inexpensive). I have received much email offering advanced university degrees, from "prestigious non-accredited" universities (they admit, or brag, that you don't have to take classes or pass tests).
