Golliwog's Cakewalk

© Copyright 1999, Jim Loy

Being opinionated sometimes gets me in trouble, which is only right, I guess. Well, I am about to go off the deep end, here. I am about to offend some nice people. Sorry. But, here goes. Claude Debussy's Golliwog's Cakewalk stinks. It saddens me that Debussy, one of my four or five favorite composers, could write such trash. And I do not see what the world sees in it. OK, it is a good children's piano piece. It has energy, and it has got a catchy tune. And I hate it. It is on a par with 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall (not by Debussy).

I'm not done. Here goes again. Beethoven's Rage Over a Lost Penny (I forget its real name) stinks.

Sorry. I know that nobody agrees with me. I'll shut up now.
