It's
actually easy, if you are careful. You don't have to cut as many lines as I did
here. This hole is probably large enough to drive a car through.
The surprise here is that length and area are not very closely related. This is similar to miles of string rolled into a small ball, or many feet of intestine inside a human body. It is also related to a huge area of leaves in a small volume of a tree, or a huge area inside the human lung, or inside an activated charcoal filter.
Assuming you can divide something small enough, there is no theoretical limit to the lengths and areas that you can produce.
