Why do we play sports? To show our superiority? To trample other people, and their egos, into the ground? To win at all cost, even if it means cheating?
Now I remember. We learn important things in sports, fair play, honesty, team work. There must be other things. Humility, I should learn plenty of that.
We learn that violence doesn't solve anything, unless the other guy has a low-numbered football jersey. Cheating doesn't pay, unless the ref is looking the other way. Sports are good for your health, unless you're a boxer or a football player. It's not whether you win or lose that matters, if you're a British tennis player.
You see, I'm getting cynical again. OK, look at one of our heros. How about that O.J? He learned something from sports. Didn't he? Let's see. How about, "Money can buy almost anything."
